Based in Edinburgh, John Riley is a freelance musician and noted as a performer and teacher of keyboard improvisation. His recitals on piano or organ invariably contain compositions or improvisations of 'hidden melodies' in the style of a given composer.
As organist he has taught on courses and and performed in various churches, cathedrals and concert halls, as well as teaching various groups of musicians, including at Cambridge University. John has also contributed to a number of journals, such as 'Music Teacher' magazine, (August 2016).
